5 Practical Ways to Create More Connection

1.Host Regular Social Gatherings: Sometimes when we’re struggling with feeling lonely, we might shy away from planning events and putting ourselves out there. Push yourself to host get-togethers, such as casual dinners, coffee dates, or game nights to foster a sense of community and connections with friends and family.

2. Engage in Community Activities: Participating in community events or local organizations helps you step out of your usual comfort zone and connect with others. Look for local book clubs, gardening groups or fitness classes. It helps to spread the word with others that you’re looking for opportunities to explore activities and groups.

3. Develop a Routine of Random Acts of KindnessPerforming small acts of kindness can create positive interactions and build connections with others, boosting your own sense of connection and satisfaction. (Yes, it really works). Look for small ways to help or lift up others, such as an authentic compliment, helping a neighbor, writing a thank you note or seeking ways to help others you come into contact with throughout your day. By looking for small ways to incorporate this into each day, you’ll start to notice the connections you’re building with others.

4. Engage in Online Communities: Online communities can provide support and a sense of belonging, especially if local social opportunities are limited. Join social media groups, or online courses related to your interests. Sometimes it can actually be easier to forge connections with people online, but be sure to only use this as a complement to in-person connections.

4. Look for Group Learning or Workshops: Enrolling in group classes or workshops can help you meet people with similar interests or learn new skills. These can be in person classes in areas like art, cooking or fitness, or workshops in person or online related to personal growth or hobbies. You can access my workshop, “Midlife Mastery” for only $39 HERE.
